The Shot
Jack said: “I usually check tunicates for shrimps and on this occasion I saw quite a large one at the edge of the tunicate. This was a good opportunity to get plenty of detail in the shrimp so I change my settings and took a test shot from a little distance and the shrimp went inside to hide. I switched to the red light and waited for it to come back to the edge of the tunicate before taking another photo. I managed to get 3 or 4 photos before it went deeper into the tunicate and didn’t emerge again. I chose this particular picture as it has a lot of detail in the shrimp but makes it stand out against the blackness of the inside of the tunicate. You can also see the colour closely matches between the tunicate and the shrimp so a different angle with the shrimp on the tunicate wouldn’t have made it stand out at all.”
