Lembeh Resort Reopens Following Extensive Upgrades

Lembeh

LembehAfter a two-month closure dedicated to significant improvements, Lembeh Resort has officially reopened its doors, unveiling a range of upgraded facilities designed to enhance comfort, convenience, and the overall guest experience.

The resort was closed from 2 January to 12 March to carry out a series of planned renovations. Drawing on guest feedback and long-term development plans, the upgrades mark a major milestone for the property, with a focus on delivering a refined and seamless experience for visiting divers and underwater photographers.

Among the enhancements is a completely rebuilt dive centre, alongside a brand-new photo centre and camera room, offering improved support for underwater photographers. Guests will also benefit from refreshed gardens, upgraded pathways, a rejuvenated pool area, and enhanced sustainability systems. Together, these improvements aim to elevate Lembeh Resort’s reputation as one of the world’s leading dive destinations, combining world-class diving with a stronger sense of place and connection to the surrounding environment.

Despite the temporary closure, Lembeh Resort continued its commitment to community engagement through the Lembeh Foundation. Initiatives during this period included English classes for local children, creative workshops for elderly women focused on upcycling plastic waste into handmade bags, and a programme enabling local teenagers to produce marine-themed keyrings from recycled materials. These items will be sold in the resort’s new gift shop to support future community projects. The renovation period also created short-term employment opportunities for local workers.

In January 2027, the popular “Capturing Critters in Lembeh” (CCiL) workshop will return, led by renowned photographers Marty Snyderman and James Emery, supported by the resort’s in-house team, including marine biologists and photography-trained dive guides (more details here).
