Tragic loss of life confirmed on dive boat Conception

Following on from our report yesterday afternoon, it has now been confirmed that the fire on board the dive boat Conception has resulted in considerable loss of life.

It is not clear from reports exactly how many people were onboard the boat at the time of the fire. A search and recovery operation continues to take place with hope of finding any survivors sadly diminishing.

Conception, a dive boat operated by Truth Aquatics, burst into flames in the early hours of Monday 2 September whilst moored offshore, close to Santa Cruz Island off the coast of California.

It has been reported that the boat was on the final day of a private charter by dive company Worldwide Diving Adventures for a special Labor Day weekend trip to the Channel Islands National Park.
