UWP News from DEMA: Ultralight
The first stand we visited at DEMA 2016 was the Ultralight Control System stand, where we met up with Terry Schuller to talk about their new products. This is their 24th year at DEMA and they love coming as it is a great chance to meet up with overseas dealers that they do not get to see face to face very often and it offers the chance to show-off their new products. Business is good at Ultralight.
We took a look at a few of their new innovations that provide additions to a huge range of underwater photography accessories already in their line-up. They have a new clamp on the market (AC-CSF-28) which has been given a finer thread for easier tensioning. One of the problems with older style clamps is that sometimes it can be difficult to get a good grip, and this will certainly help to resolve this.
Our favourite new product, on their stand, was the Ultralight Eco-Stick, a pointer that has a “T” handle at the top. Should you use a pointer to steady yourself underwater, then this has a much better grip than others on the market. In addition, the handle has a thread to allow a ball to be mounted to it, so you can attach your camera to it and it becomes a monopod.
Ultralight have also designed a tray system for the new Lenzo iPhone housing (to be reviewed soon on Scubaverse). It is great to see new innovations coming onto the underwater photography scene in 2016 and Ultralight keeping-up and designing great new products to go with them.
