Three South Korean Divers Rescued After Drifting Away From Dive Site in Philippines

Three South Korean divers have been rescued after drifting away from their planned dive site in the waters off Puerto Galera in the Philippines.

The divers were taking part in a dive at Canyon Reef, near Barangay Sinandigan, on 11 August. When they failed to return as expected, the operator of the speedboat that had taken them to the site raised the alarm and a search and rescue operation was launched.

The divers were eventually located in waters off Barangay San Agustin on Verde Island, in neighbouring Batangas province. They were found by the crew of the M/V FastCat M19 and Paradise Diving Boat 4 before being transported to Barangay Sabang.

According to reports, one of the divers was rescued by the FastCat crew, while the other two were recovered by Paradise Diving Boat 4.

The Philippine Coast Guard coordinated the search operation after receiving the report, with assistance from local authorities and other maritime units.

The incident took place in the Verde Island Passage, an area known for its rich marine biodiversity and popular dive sites, including those around Verde Island and Puerto Galera.

All three divers were safely brought ashore following the search operation.
