The Great Scuba Drive, Day 20: Drive Day

**Join Rico Anselmi and Sophie Shields as they take on The Great Scuba Drive — an ambitious month-long diving road trip from Cornwall to Scotland.**

From freshwater lakes and historic quarries to dramatic coastal sites and wild northern lochs, the duo are exploring the best of UK diving while documenting every moment along the way. Their mission is to showcase the beauty, challenge, and community spirit of cold-water diving — and inspire others to dive into the adventure.

Today was a drive day on The Great Scuba Drive. Over the past three weeks, we’ve dived our way through England and Wales, and last night we crossed the border into Scotland, only to find ourselves hopping back over again this morning onto the east coast of England.

For the next few days, we’ll be diving on the Northumberland Coast National Landscape. If the weather behaves, we’re hoping this part of the trip will include a visit to the Farne Islands, a location we’ve both been really looking forward to, known for its rugged beauty, abundant marine life, and large grey seal colony.

Since today was a non-diving day, we took the opportunity to sort through our kit, and to edit some more photos from Capernwray yesterday. Looking through the images brought back what an amazing day it was, exploring the sunken relics, meeting the sturgeon, and enjoying the company of fellow divers. It’s been a busy few weeks, and the downtime today felt well-earned.

Each stop along The Great Scuba Drive has had its own character, from stormy seas to clear quarries, and now, as we have reached Northumberland, it feels like a new chapter is opening. We’re excited to see what the next few days will bring and we’re keeping everything crossed for a weather window to make it out to the Farnes.
