Specialist Travel Insurance for Divers
Westfield Offers Tailored Cover for Scuba Holidays
With more than 40 years of experience, Westfield Sub Aqua & Marine Insurance Services is offering specialist travel insurance designed to provide cover for divers and others taking part in a range of sporting and leisure activities.
The company provides travel insurance for scuba diving holidays, as well as cruises, skiing trips, golf holidays and a number of other sporting activities. Policies are described as competitively priced and comparable with standard travel insurance.
Cover is available for both individuals and families, with options including annual multi-trip policies up to the age of 85. There is no upper age limit for single-trip policies, while a number of pre-existing medical conditions can also be covered.
Cover for divers and other activities
For divers planning an overseas trip, specialist scuba diving cover can be included within the travel insurance policy. Other activities, including skiing and a range of sports, can also be added where required.
Westfield also highlights the option for families or couples to arrange different levels of cover. For example, if only one member of a family is diving, it may be possible for the diver to have a policy that includes scuba diving while other family members have separate policies without the diving cover.
The company also recommends reviewing the level of cover selected to make sure it reflects the individual trip and circumstances.
Westfield’s travel insurance checklist
Westfield advises travellers to consider several factors when arranging their insurance.
The policy should cover the full duration of the trip, from the date of leaving home until the date of returning home, as shown by the relevant travel arrangements.
Travellers can also review their excess levels, cancellation and curtailment limits and baggage cover, with adjustments potentially affecting the overall premium.
Westfield recommends considering whether worldwide cover is necessary. The USA, Canada, Caribbean and Mexico can be excluded initially and added later if a trip to one of these destinations is subsequently booked.
For those who only ski occasionally, the company advises that adding skiing cover to an annual policy may not be the most cost-effective option. A separate single-trip policy for a one-week skiing holiday in Europe may be cheaper than including skiing cover for an entire year.
The company also states that purchasing insurance closer to the holiday can make it cheaper.
Importantly, the insurance is only available for destinations classified as Green Zones under the UK Government’s Foreign Travel Advice.
