NUPG Splash-In results announced
On Saturday 4th August 2018 the Northern Underwater Photography Group held their annual “Splash-In” underwater photography competition in North Wales. Underwater photographers were invited to take pictures on the day which could be entered into two primary categories. The photos were then displayed at that evening’s meeting and voted on by those present. So competitors not only had to take photos on the day they also had to get their SD cards back to the Belle Vue Hotel in Bangor, quite a challenge and great fun.

Some competitors had chosen to hire a boat for the day whilst others opted for shore dives. Underwater visibility varied from great to non-existent depending on dive sites chosen!

It was nice to see that the entries were dominated by newcomers to NUPG competitions with Glynn Phillips winning the Wide Angle category with his photograph of a backlit jellyfish and also the Newcomer category with his close-up shot of a skeleton shrimp. However Yo-Han Cha’s feeding nudibranch won the Close-Up category and was voted the overall winner. Congratulations to all.

The NUPG would like to thank all those that entered the competition, and our kind sponsors, who have provided the winners’ trophies:
- Overall Winner – Frogfish Photography
- Newcomer winner – Dive Safari Asia
- Close Up winner – Scubaverse
- Wide Angle winner – Nauticam UK / Underwater Visions
If you are interested in joining us then please feel free to come to one of our monthly meetings which are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. For more details please visit our website at www.nupg.org.uk
