Nova Maldives and PADI Join Forces for Inspiring Ocean Adventure Week with India Black

Ocean Adventure Week

Nova Maldives, in collaboration with PADI and marine influencer and activist India Black, successfully hosted a week of ocean advocacy and underwater exploration during Ocean Adventure Week back in July. The event brought together guests, resort staff, and the diving community for a series of conservation-driven activities designed to inspire awareness, participation, and a deeper connection to the ocean.

As part of the initiative, attendees took part in workshops, talks, and hands-on conservation projects, all focused on coral reef protection, marine biology, and the joys of diving.

Highlights from the week included:

  • Coral Conservation Workshop – Led by India Black, this session introduced participants to coral biology, the threats facing reef ecosystems, and the critical role of coral nurseries in regeneration efforts. Guests and Nova team members actively contributed by attaching live coral fragments to restoration frames destined for the surrounding reef.

  • Coral Awareness Talk at Wink Bar – An informal, sunset gathering open to all resort guests, the talk extended the conservation conversation into the social sphere. With ocean views as the backdrop, attendees gained insights into marine protection while enjoying signature cocktails.

  • Discover Scuba Dive Experience – Guided by the PADI dive team, this session gave first-time divers—including female guests and Nova staff—the opportunity to explore the underwater world. The experience concluded with a celebratory toast in honour of PADI Women’s Dive Day.

The week served as a powerful reminder of diving’s ability to foster meaningful connections between people and the ocean. It also underscored Nova Maldives’ ongoing commitment to inclusive, conservation-focused experiences that actively involve both visitors and the resort’s local team.
