Northern Underwater Photography Group Announce 2016 Splash-In Competition
The Northern Underwater Photography Group (NUPG) have announced the date for their annual underwater photography Splash-In competition. It will be held in North Wales on Saturday 16th July 2016.
All underwater photographers are invited to take part in this fun competition held on a single day. Competitors will dive all around the North Wales coastline on the 16th July and then will meet up at the evening venue, The Belle Vue Hotel in Bangor, to submit their images.
There are 4 Splash-In Categories, where the winners will take away a glass trophy that is theirs to keep. It is £5 to enter images into the competition which is payable on the night.
The categories are: Compact Camera Macro; Compact Camera Wide-Angle; System Camera Macro; System Camera Wide-Angle (Where a system camera is defined as having interchangeable lenses: 4/3rds; mirrorless, SLR).
These winning images will then compete against each other so that a Splash-In overall winner for 2016 can be crowned and be presented with the fabulous NUPG Splash-In trophy.
In recent years, the underwater conditions have been challenging to say the very least, but all the photographers diving on the day encounter similar problems and the event is great fun with the group meeting up in the evening and voting on the images entered.
In addition to the splash-in competition, there will also be a print competition on the night, with a further 4 categories: Overseas Wide-Angle; Overseas Macro; British Isles Wide-Angle & British Isles Macro. The winners will also take home their own trophies. Prints should be no larger than A4 in size and this competition is also £5 to enter.
The competition trophies are sponsored by companies who have supported this competition for years and include Apeks, DiveLife, Dive Quest, Frogsborn, Frogfish Photography, Mares, Nauticam UK, INON UK and Scubaverse.
To take part, you need to register before the day, and you will be emailed the full details of timings and rules for the event.
