Emperor Echo liveaboard sustains “irreversible damage” in lightning storm at Fury Shoals

Emperor Echo

Emperor Echo has sustained “irreversible damage” to its hull following a lightning storm at Fury Shoals on Saturday night.

All guests and crew managed to exit the liveaboard unharmed.

Emperor Divers released an official statement on their Facebook page yesterday:

“In the late hours of Saturday, October 28th; Emperor Echo was moored at Fury Shoals when unfortunately a lightning storm with strong winds forced the vessel to snag its mooring and get blown onto the reef resulting in irreversible damage to the ship’s hull.

Emperor Divers are grateful to our dedicated and effective crew who, along with the guests onboard, smoothly executed evacuation procedures which ensured all got off the vessel unharmed.

All guests and crew are now safely ashore and on their way to Port Ghalib.”

We’ll bring you more on this story as it develops.
