East Coast Divers Pledges to Rebuild Following Fire That Destroyed Brookline Facility
East Coast Divers has confirmed it will rebuild and continue serving the diving community after a devastating fire destroyed its Brookline, Massachusetts facility on Thursday morning.
The blaze caused severe damage to the building, destroying much of the dive centre’s retail stock, equipment, classrooms, offices and operational infrastructure. All staff, tenants and occupants were safely evacuated, and no serious injuries were reported.
Although the company has lost its physical premises, many of its services have already resumed, including diver training, equipment servicing, dive travel programmes and charter operations.
Founded in 1974, East Coast Divers is one of New England’s longest-established dive centres and has trained thousands of divers over the past five decades. The business offers recreational scuba, technical diving, freediving, professional-level training and dive travel, while also supporting conservation projects, veteran initiatives, local dive clubs and community events.
Managing Partner Nicholas Fazah said the company remains committed to moving forward despite the loss of the building, emphasising that the strength of the East Coast Divers community remains intact.
Temporary arrangements are currently being put in place to ensure classes, certifications, equipment servicing and customer support continue while rebuilding plans are developed.
The response from the diving community has been significant, with divers, former students, industry partners and supporters from around the world offering assistance, donations, equipment, temporary workspace and messages of support.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by members of the East Coast Divers community to support recovery and rebuilding efforts.
The company says it remains fully committed to rebuilding and continuing to serve divers well into the future. Updates on temporary operations and reconstruction plans will be shared through East Coast Divers’ website and social media channels.
