Blue Planet Aquarium seeks part-time diver
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Blue Planet Aquarium, located in northwest England at Cheshire Oaks, for a part-time diver to join its team.
This is a unique opportunity to work with a vast array of exotic animals and sharks housed in a 3.8 million litre exhibition display. Blue Planet Aquarium is home to over 100 living displays across 16 themed zones taking guests on a journey of underwater discovery. It is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks housed in one of Europe’s largest underwater tunnel exhibits.
You will be responsible for the daily management of briefing and guiding diving experiences in the main tank and ensuring consistently high standards of presentation and guest delivery. Briefing guests and conducting shark dives, you will be key to delivering memorable experiences.
Other responsibilities will include the maintenance and cleaning of the main exhibit, and scuba diving as part of the aqua-theatre shows.
You will be a minimum PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and be able to obtain a HSE medical. You will need to be a good communicator, with the ability to deliver diving briefs, create amazing guest interaction and dive experiences, and have a working knowledge of the correct use of dive equipment.
A good understanding of dive profiles, dive logging and dive theory to ensure dives are within company policies will also be required.
As this is an active role, you must be physically fit and capable of working with others. A flexible approach to working hours is also essential.
The post is part time, with weekend and evening shifts on a rota basis. You must be available a minimum of three days per week, of which two days should cover Friday, Saturday or Sunday in line with the needs of the business.
