Paul Toomer Appointed PADI Global Tec Diving Consultant

Technical diving educator and industry veteran Paul Toomer has announced his appointment as Global Tec Diving Consultant for PADI, marking a significant new chapter in his distinguished diving career.

A highly respected figure within the global technical diving community, Toomer brings decades of experience as an instructor trainer, examiner, business owner and course developer to the role. His appointment sees him return to the organisation where his professional diving journey first began.

In his new position, Toomer will work alongside PADI’s technical diving team to help deliver advanced training materials across open and closed circuit diving, overhead environments and beyond.

Announcing the news on social media, Toomer shared the following statement:

“Anyone who knows me knows how much I love life, and also how lucky I have been in my career as a diving professional. I have had successful dive centres, amazing mentors, and I have been lucky enough to work for two amazing agencies, one of which I co-owned. It’s been an amazing ride, and I have been surrounded by the best, and kindest, wonderful people.

And my life just seems to keep playing out, and with that I would like to announce that I have taken on a new role as Global Tec Diving Consultant for PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors).

I began my career at PADI, and it seems so serendipitous that I am now right back to where I started.

I cannot wait to start working with the amazing team at PADI delivering state of the art technical materials for open and closed circuit, overhead and beyond.

While this opportunity is perfect for me, I would also like to thank all the agencies that spoke to me about joining them – I have been overwhelmed with kindness. And I will always cherish the memories I have of the great people across the entire planet that I have had the opportunity to work with. You all know who you are and how special you will always be to me.

Now, let’s get this PADI party started, we have much to do.”

Toomer is widely recognised throughout the diving world for his contributions to technical diver education and for his work through Diving Matrix Advanced Diver Training, where he serves as Managing Director.
