Re-opening our doors at Blue Planet Aquarium

Here at Blue Planet Aquarium we had to close our doors on the 22nd March but thankfully Blue Planet has endured, and we have been waiting eagerly to open our doors and welcome you back and we were finally able to open our doors on Saturday 4th July.

Due to the new government guidelines we have opened with new regulations and precautions in place, from changing how we welcome back our visitors, to how we carry out our Shark Dives and run our Aquarium on a daily basis, we have put in extra safety measures to ensure the safety of the general public and our staff.

A few months ago, I wrote a blog on how we care for our animals during a lockdown and you will be happy to know that throughout lockdown we have had a team maintaining our animals and exhibits.

To ensure the safety of all our guests, staff, and animals, we have fitted screens on our tills and phone scanners to scan tickets directly from phones rather than using paper tickets. We’ve also opened with the idea to keep a one-way system throughout the aquarium whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines, and have put a ‘roundabout system’ in our Rockpool area as there are two levels to the zone, it allows our guests to go around the zone 2-3 times ensuring they can see everything before moving on to the next zone. Throughout the journey the aquarium has been fitted with extra floor and wall marking to show the optimal way through our exhibits and there are also extra handwash stations for our guests to use throughout their visit.

We have also put some of our public shows and feeds on hold for the foreseeable future in order to keep with social distancing guidelines, however you will still be able to see our all of our animals and divers as they work in the main tank.

We’re really excited to welcome you back and can’t wait to sea you.
