Great News for UK Divers – St Abbs Independent Lifeboat Charity Orders New Boat

St Abbs

St AbbsSt Abbs Independent Lifeboat have announced that the order for the new boat, the “Thomas Tunnock” has been placed with MST of Liverpool.

The new St Abbs Lifeboat will be a [9m] RIB Rescue Craft to an established MCA type.

It is expected that the new boat “Thomas Tunnock” will be commissioned in July 2016 and further details will be published as the build process progresses.

In announcing the news today, Alistair Crowe, Chairman of the new charity said: “This is an ideal boat for the rescue work we are involved in at St Abbs and will increase the Search and Rescue capabilities along the Berwickshire Coast. We look forward to St Abbs coming back on station as an accredited SAR service in July.

The fundraising and hard work to achieve this continues on all fronts. Once we are in a position to do so, we will announce plans for delivery and launching of the service based around our traditional lifeboat day at the end of July.”
