A tourist submarine named Sindbad sank off the coast of Hurghada, Egypt, early this morning, March 27, 2025. According to initial reports, at least six people are feared dead, while nine others sustained injuries. Around 40 tourists were on board at the time, with many successfully rescued by authorities.

The nationalities of the passengers and the exact ratio of crew to tourists have not yet been confirmed. Hurghada, a popular destination for British travelers, is known for its numerous maritime tours and excursions.

Emergency services remain on the scene, with ongoing rescue operations. The injured, including some in critical condition, have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical care. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident.

This tragedy comes after a similar accident in 2021, when a German couple and their child drowned after their submarine struck a coral reef near Hurghada.
