Scubaverse UWP Winners Gallery: Miguel Ramirez
Each month we give the winner of the Scubaverse Underwater Photography competition the opportunity to show off a little more of their work in a gallery. The August winner was Miguel Ramirez.
What do you love about diving & underwater photography?
I live since my childhood on a tropical French island, in the Indian Ocean : Reunion island. Diver for 5 years, and photographer for 8 years, I like to share my discoveries and photos on social networks, and show the beauty of the marine world. I hope these photos have an impact on people’s opinion, and awareness to protect our planet. I also love to travel and discover new aquatic spaces and new species.
What equipment do you use?
I specialized for many years with compacts, and in particular the Olympus TG (TG5, TG6). I win a lot of national and international contests with this awesome camera. But for 6 months I moved to another camera : a DSLR Nikon D500 in a Hugyfot housing. I use a 60 or 85mm Nikon lenses for macro, and sometimes a SMC1 wet lens. For wide angle I use a 10-17 tokina (and mini dome 5″). For lighting I use two Inon Z330 strobes, and sometimes a backscatter snoot for macro.
