Scubaverse UWP Winners Gallery: Giacomo Rossi
Each month we give the winner of the Scubaverse Underwater Photography competition the opportunity to show off a little more of their work in a gallery. The August winner was Giacomo Rossi and you can see his winning image at the top of this page.
What do you love about diving & underwater photography?
Underwater photography for me is my way to freeze with an image the emotion that I feel, with the purpose to transmit the same emotion to the person that views my image. My passion for the ocean and his inhabitants is growing day after day, and now, in our specific time as civilization on planet Earth, where the nature is challenging with major environmental changes induced by mankind, I feel the responsibility to transmit my love for the ocean with the hope to help the protection of this incredible blue planet. This is also the mission of my company Baja Underwater Expeditions, which offers personalized eco-tourism around the peninsula to experience all of its most exciting residents and visitors up close and personal. My work is available on my web site www.behindthedome.com or on my Instagram profile @baja_underwater_expeditions.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Sony mirrorless A6300 with Nauticam housing and his accessories. Recently I change my Sea&Sea strobes for the new Scuba Lamp D-MAX that offer me the right quality of illumination. I normally shot with a fisheye lens (16mm+adapter) behind a ZEN dome. Or a 19mm Sigma with the Nauticam WWL-1, that offers the best image quality over all the others combinations. For macro I use the Sony 90mm plus Subsea +10 close up lens with the amazing Blackwater Mini Flash with Snoot.
