San Diego Divers Log Shark Encounters For Citizen Science Programs

Ocean Sanctuaries 2Ocean Sanctuaries, San Diego’s newest ocean-related nonprofit currently has two citizen science shark monitoring programs which allow local divers to document their encounters with various species of shark.

You can log encounters with  Sevengill Sharks here: http://oceansanctuaries.vm-host.net/sevengillshark/submit.jsp

Any non-Sevengill shark species can be logged here (with National Geographic’s ‘Fieldscope’ citizen science tool): http://sharksofsandiego.fieldscope.org/v3

At least one photograph must accompany each encounter logged.
