Saint Lucia to Develop Three Underwater Sculpture Parks

Saint Lucia is developing a new underwater sculpture park project that will combine diving, marine attractions and the island’s history, culture and heritage.

The project will eventually comprise three underwater parks: a Dive Park, Snorkel Park and Conservation Park, forming a sculpture park corridor along the island’s west coast.

The first collection of sculptures is being developed for the Dive Park at Anse La Verdue in Canaries. Before the sculptures are installed underwater, they will be presented to the public at a two-day exhibition on 29 and 30 August 2026.

The exhibition will take place at the Odsan Warehouse, across from the Odsan Playing Field, from 9am to 4pm on both days. Admission is free.

According to Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Tourism, the project is part of efforts to develop the island’s dive tourism sector while highlighting its cultural heritage.

Local artists and community creatives contributed ideas for the sculptures, with the project intended to give Saint Lucians a role in determining how the island’s history and heritage are represented.

Once installed, the Dive Park sculptures will become an underwater attraction at Anse La Verdue. The wider project will subsequently include the planned Snorkel Park and Conservation Park, creating three distinct underwater areas connected by their focus on Saint Lucia’s history, culture and heritage.

Saint Lucia already has an established scuba diving sector, with dive sites around the island including coral reefs, underwater walls and wrecks. The new sculpture parks are intended to add a cultural dimension to the island’s underwater attractions.

The 29–30 August exhibition will therefore offer the public a chance to see the first collection before the sculptures move from land to their eventual underwater setting.
