New modification to BSAC Instructor crossover makes process easier
It’s now easier for other agency trained instructors to get involved in teaching with BSAC clubs earlier in the Crossover process.
Changes have been made to the Instructor Crossover process enabling other agency trained instructors to assist with instructing in clubs more quickly.
A review of the process was made which took into account the potential delays in accessing a crossover course and that other agency instructors could gain an appropriate understanding of BSAC training (from their induction pack and branch support) to get started in club instruction before completing the Instructor Crossover Course.
The changes to the Instructor Crossover process are therefore as follows:
- Qualified instructors from other agencies are recognised by BSAC as having instructional skills that would be valuable for a branch to make use of prior to their attendance on the Instructor Crossover Course.
- With immediate effect Crossover Instructors are provided a form to complete, verifying they have gained an appropriate understanding of BSAC training from their comprehensive induction pack and branch support. The form should be verified and countersigned by an officer of a branch and then sent to BSAC HQ.
- Once received and confirmed by BSAC HQ* the Crossover Instructor will be able to assist with branch training under the supervision of an OWI (or above) prior to completing the Crossover Course.
- On completion of the Crossover Course they will become a BSAC Open Water Instructor.
*Please note: Crossover Instructors cannot assist with instructing until a confirmation has been received.
