Are GoPro releasing the Hero 4 next month?
While nothing official has been announced yet regarding the GoPro Hero 4, fans of the devices have speculated that the new model may be arriving as early as this October. As the Hero 2, Hero 3, and the Hero 3+ cameras were all released in Q4 of previous years, it stands to reason that the company may roll out its next model around that time.
More recent speculation has suggested a March 2015 release date. Rumoured technical specifications include a 13-megapixel camera, a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor (previously said to be an A7 processor), an improved lens, and the ability to record video in 4k resolution at 30 frames per second. The unit will feature WiFi, HDMI output, and USB ports as well.
The camera is said to weigh 100 grams and feature the same GoPro ruggedness users have come to know and love, including improved impact-resistance and water-resistance of up to 60 meters – great news for us divers.
If these specifications are correct, then the Hero 4 is a clear improvement over the current Hero 3+ which GoPro describes as “the most advanced GoPro yet.” However, the company has made no official announcement regarding a possible GoPro Hero 4, so the information remains highly speculative – for now.
