Event to celebrate 10th Anniversary of Red Sea-based photo competition hopes to break World record – watch video

A new Guinness Record for scuba diving will be attempted this year as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Eilat Red Sea International Underwater Photo Competition.

The aim of the attempt is to set a new Guinness record for the largest audience for a live-streamed underwater event.

On the morning of Friday 12th September, hundreds of divers, 26 diving instructors, 32 production members and 12 professional photographers will all take part in a dive on the Satil – a missile boat wreck in Eilat, Israel.

The dive will be broadcast live on YouTube, enabling millions of viewers from all over the world watch the event take place.

The dive will take place next Friday the 12th September at 11:30 am GMT +2. The broadcast, which will also feature the exciting preparations before the dive, will begin at 11:00 am GMT +2.
