Divers of tomorrow invited to check out the new Scuba Youth Zone at LIDS

Young people are invited to drop in at the new Scuba Youth Zone (Stand 382) at the London International Dive Show (LIDS 2014), at ExCeL on the 15th and 16th February.

This chill-out area will provide lots of information and inspiration for 10-16 year-olds to get involved with diving.

Young divers, special guests and a wide range of exhibitors – including BSAC, PADI and SSI – will give informal talks and advice throughout the Show. Subjects include training, photography, kit, commercial diving, nautical archaeology, marine biology, and diving at inland sites, in the Farne Islands, Caribbean, Egypt – and in the Try-Dive Pool at the Show too.

Students from Warwick University are bringing along the human-powered submarine they have built in pursuit of their Master’s degrees. The team will be testing the sub at Stoney Cove in the Spring and competing in the European International Submarine Race at Gosport in July.

Under 16s accompanied by adults have free entry to LIDS. It’s a great chance to meet other young people, find out about diving opportunities and speak to exhibitors who are keen to encourage young blood into the sport.

The UK’s biggest Spring diving event, LIDS 2014 features a host of special attractions, the latest dive gear, holiday destinations and training courses – as well as the chance to see top diving speakers and meet thousands of other divers – all under one roof.

Tickets for LIDS 2014 can be booked here.

LIDS 2014 is a DIVER Group event in association with Egypt Tourism and Oonasdivers.
