DEEP has announced the launch of a new Diver Medic Technician (DMT) course, qualifying divers to respond to diving related injuries and medical emergencies. The course will be delivered by DDRC Healthcare, a leading provider of DMT instruction, at DEEP Campus, a center for underwater training and innovation in the Southwest of England.

The DMT qualification builds critical competency for commercial divers who require professional IMCA accreditation, as well as a broader group of individuals who want to be better prepared for in-water injuries, such as recreational divers (certificate issued by DDRC). The qualification is also a prerequisite for DEEP’s UK HSE Closed Bell Diver course, making it a natural first step for commercial divers progressing towards saturation.

There are no required qualifications to enroll on DEEP’s DMT course itself. Over ten days, participants will develop their understanding of diving-related injuries and build hands-on competence in treating them, training in small groups alongside expert instructors from DDRC. Food and accommodation at DEEP Campus are included for the duration of the course.

“Equipping people to operate in the subsea environment requires the ability to respond to diving-specific emergencies. Partnering with DDRC to deliver a high-quality DMT course is an important step in helping individuals develop the competencies needed for teams to thrive in the water,” said Paul Nelson, Director of Training at DEEP.

“DDRC Healthcare is delighted to bring its expertise in DMT instruction to support DEEP’s mission to make humans aquatic. Giving divers and other individuals the medical knowledge and hands-on skills to respond to diving-related injuries is fundamental to safe diving,” said Tim Mockridge, Professional Services Manager at DDRC Healthcare.

Places are limited. To register your interest or book a place, email training@deep.com.
