Congratulations to Bingham SAC on winning the 2017 Heinke Trophy

BSAC

Congratulations to East Midlands-based Bingham SAC who have been awarded this year’s Heinke Trophy, BSAC’s premier club award. The Heinke Trophy is given each year to the club which has, in the eyes of the judging panel, done the most to further the interests of its members and BSAC.

Bingham SAC are the 55th winner of the Heinke Trophy and adjudicator, Phil Harrison, praised the club’s entry:

“The club adopted a clear strategic approach to members and has worked hard to widen its appeal, resulting in almost a 10% increase in its membership in just a year.  Their efforts also saw a huge amount of try dives, including 100 female try divers in one afternoon as part of the This Girl Can Dive initiative. As a club, they have obtained some impressive equipment; supported by grant fundraising and their social events are fun and inclusive. They have also been extremely successful in reaching outside their club, including CCR try dive events around the region.  Bingham SAC are worthy winners of this year’s Heinke Trophy and I am delighted for them.”

Bingham SAC, Chair Jill Mellink-Davidson, spoke on behalf of the club to say: ” The members of the club are delighted and excited to have won the Heinke Trophy. Our “can do” attitude and genuine efforts to be inclusive and open minded as a club demonstrated why we are such a strong club. I am sure that Bingham SAC can continue to build on this in the future.”

Bingham SAC will now receive £1,000 and will be presented with the Heinke Trophy at the BSAC Diving Conference at the NEC on 21st October.
