British Couple Have Underwater Wedding – Watch Video

When brides are looking for their perfect dress, waterproof isn’t usually one of the requirements.

But Kate Watkinson and her new husband Andy had a lot of unorthodox requests, including two pairs of fins, for their underwater wedding in the Maldives.

After getting married in the UK first, to make their marriage legal, they had a second ceremony on their honeymoon in The Maldives.

The aisle was marked out by dolphin statues blowing bubbles and they exchanged their vows in front of a table shaped like a manta ray.

Kate said: “We didn’t do the exchanging of the rings thing; we had the mixing of shells instead. We each had some small sea shells and we mixed them together… and the idea is they can never be separated. It was absolutely wonderful.”

The couple, who live in Bromley, got married in The Maldives last month after their UK ceremony a few days beforehand.

“It really was beautiful down there. It was just amazing, so peaceful,” said Andy.
