UK based diving tour operator blue o two has announced a new Red Sea itinerary following the popularity of their ‘Daedalus & Fury Shoal’ and ‘Daedalus & St Johns’ itineraries. The new itinerary, ‘Best of Daedalus’, will spend a week showcasing the stunning dive sites at one of the Red Sea’s most famous reefs.

Daedalus has proven to be an exceptionally popular dive site, and its vastness, varied topography and the possibility of exciting sightings renders it possible to explore this marine park site for many days. This itinerary spends three days at Daedalus, followed by one day at the stunning Elphinstone reef.

Known for frequent sightings of large pelagics, Daedalus is a truly unique reef. Easily recognisable by the iconic zebra-striped lighthouse, common encounters at this superb reef include oceanic whitetips, scalloped hammerheads, manta rays and thresher sharks. A large, tear-drop shaped reef, diving at Daedalus is characterized by wall dives, deep drop offs, exposed plateaus, and a varied and expansive marine life supported by the coral reef.

Elphinstone Reef is likewise known for its pelagic encounters, including hammerhead sharks in the summer months, followed by oceanic whitetip sharks in the autumnal period of October and November. This finger shaped reef, with its north and south plateaus covered in hard and soft corals, is as unpredictable as it is exciting.

The ‘Best of Daedalus’ itinerary will be a 7 day Red Sea diving holiday with packages including flights, transfers, 7 nights full board accommodation on board a blue o two fleet vessel and guided dives. As Daedalus is exposed and diving can be challenging with strong currents and large waves, this itinerary is not suitable for inexperienced divers. It is recommended that divers interested in this itinerary have logged a minimum of 30 dives and possess their PADI Open Water or equivalent.
