Black Water Tek Launches DTS Gas Guru — Professional Gas Planning App for Technical Divers
Precision gas analysis and blending tools for OC and CCR divers, now on iOS and Android
Black Water Tek have announced the release of DTS Gas Guru, a professional gas planning application for technical divers, available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at £4.99.
Designed for both open circuit and CCR divers, DTS Gas Guru provides four precision gas tools in a clean, mobile-first interface:
- Best Mix — calculates the optimal gas for any target depth, with Nitrox, Trimix and CCR diluent modes. Uniquely calculates the optimal helium fraction based on your gas density limit and actual water temperature — warmer water requires less helium, colder water more — a level of precision no other app offers. Also allows the user to configure whether O₂ is treated as narcotic or non-narcotic in END calculations.
- Gas Checker — check the full properties of any gas mix at any depth, displaying PO₂, EAD, END and gas density instantly. Uniquely displays three simultaneous MODs — one for each limit: PO₂, gas density and narcotic depth — factoring in water temperature and the user’s O₂ narcosis preference.
Indispensable for CCR divers assessing diluent options.
- Gas Density — features a world-first temperature-adjustable density calculator, allowing divers to input actual water temperature for real-time accurate gas density predictions, with colour-coded Safe / Caution / Critical thresholds for both OC and CCR loop gas.
- Gas Mixer — blending calculator for top-up and from-empty fills, with both ideal gas and real gas (Z-factor) precision modes; uniquely allows O₂ purity adjustment to account for real-world cylinder purity, and top-up gas is fully configurable — from air through to any nitrox or trimix blend.
