Be inspired by International Whale Shark Day with Regaldive
The 30th August marks International Whale Shark Day, which celebrates the largest fish in our oceans. Whale Sharks are classed as a vulnerable species and are still hunted in parts of Asia; however they pose no threat to humans and feed on just plankton. For divers who wish to swim alongside the gentle giants of the underwater world, UK based diving holiday specialist Regaldive offers holidays in some of their most frequented territories.
The Daymaniyat Islands, off the coast of Muscat in Oman, have been placed under the protection of UNESCO and can offer less experienced divers the rare chance to swim with whale sharks, encountered from June to September. The islands provide divers with pristine coral gardens, walls and abundant fish life to admire, as well as other shark species including leopard sharks.
