Ten Reasons to Choose Curacao in 2026

Curacao isn’t just another Caribbean dive destination… it’s the kind of place that keeps divers coming back year after year…after year! Warm water, easy shore diving, colourful reefs, wrecks, turtles, beach bars, sunsets, and that laid-back island vibe all come together to make diving here seriously fun. Whether you’re planning your very first dive trip or your tenth, 2026 is the perfect excuse to swap your everyday routine for tanks, sunshine, and underwater adventures in Curaçao.

So why choose Curaçao and The Dive Bus for your next dive vacation? From crystal-clear water and world-class shore diving to relaxed island life and unforgettable underwater moments, here are 10 reasons divers are already putting Curaçao at the top of their 2026 travel list.

One: Seriously Fun Shore Diving

The easy entries, short swims to the reef, typically minimal current, and abundant marine life make shore diving a no-brainer in Curacao. There’s nothing “off-shore,” so boat dives are along the coast as well. Choose between guided dives where the pro’s handle the logistics for you or independent to dive on your own schedule!

There are a few sites you can’t get to from shore – because it’s private property or at the base of a cliff – so ask us how to add a day of diving the east point marine park to your dive package.

Two: Excellent Year-Round Diving

Curacao is conveniently located outside the hurricane belt, which means we rarely experience extreme weather and diving is excellent 365 days a year! During the rainy season of October to December, rain showers are usually brief and followed by sunshine.

Water temperatures are warm throughout the year, generally ranging from 26-29C / 78-84F, with the coldest in March-ish and warmest in the October-ish.

Curacao

Three: Coral Reef Health

Consistently rated among the healthiest coral in the Caribbean, you’ll also find all the little critters that go along with a vibrant coral reef environment.

Four: Dive Site Variety

With over 70 world-class scuba diving sites, you’re spoilt for choice when you arrive. From shallow reefs to steep walls, small caves to renowned wreck sites, Curacao has something for divers at every level.

Five: Iconic Shipwrecks

Within the limits of recreational diving, you’ll find a few awesome wreck dives. Superior Producer is our most iconic, a 50m long cargo ship sitting perfectly upright at 30m/100ft depth. Car Pile and Tugboat are also worth your time – with Tugboat being a fun option for snorkelers too!

The tech divers among you can find even more options beyond 40m, so feel free to reach out if that’s you.

Six: Active Marine Conservation

We work closely with Reef Renewal Curacao, helping to maintain the coral nursery at our house reef as well as teach the PADI Coral Restoration Curacao Diver course. Reef Renewal Curacao has 6 active nursery sites, growing Staghorn & Elkhorn coral. Sea Turtle Conservation Curacao is also very active with volunteers patrolling nesting beaches, educating the community, recording data for scientific research, and responding to reports of injured turtles. They are establishing a Rescue Center to better care for and rehabilitate more sea turtles.

Visitors staying longer in Curacao can get involved volunteering for these organizations!

Seven: Macro photography

Curacao is best known for healthy coral reefs and smaller marine life. Macro enthusiasts will fall in love with the juvenile trunk fish and drums, and be mesmerized by tiny shrimp and crabs nestled in waving anemones. Crystal clear water lets in an abundance of natural light, an ideal combination for capturing your subject in its element.

Curacao

Eight: Variety of Non-Diving Activities

The Caribbean is well known for having gorgeous beaches, and Curacao will not disappoint! Many of the popular beaches are also beautiful dive sites, so your relaxing surface interval is built right in.

If you’re looking for a bit more adventure, you can hike Christoffelberg, check out the wild north coast at Shete Boka, or join an ATV Tour with Eric’s ATVs for an off the beaten path view of the island.

Finally, if you’re looking for a break from nature, take a walking tour of UNESCO World Heritage City, Willemstad, to explore murals, side streets and history. There are many museums in the city center as well, for some out-of-the-sun entertainment.

Nine: Abundance of Dining Options

Because diving makes you hungry! Everywhere you turn, there’s a stand selling batidos, or fresh fruit smoothies, which are so refreshing on a hot day! You can grab a sandwich or arepa for lunch on the go or find plenty of sit-down restaurant options for lunch and dinner if you prefer. Some of our favorite spots include Sea Side Terrace, de Visserij or Villa Vis, Disfruta Mas, Pan Asian Bistro, Rozendaels, Pizzaroni, and Ribs Factory. Looking for a late-night bite? Curacao’s truki pans, or food trucks, are an experience not to be missed for the meat lovers!

Curacao

Ten: Easily accessible from around the globe

With daily direct flights from Amsterdam, Miami, Charlotte, JFK, and Panama City, along with direct options from several cities in Canada & the US as well as Central and South America and the Caribbean, getting to Curacao is a breeze. Find the Curacao Airport airline schedule here.
