Dive Training you can do at home – SSI
The Scubaverse Team have looked at what dive training you can do whilst you are stuck indoors! Helping out your local dive centres at the same time as keeping you busy and still immersed in all things diving. First up is SSI.
SSI has a wide range of training materials available digitally, these are available for use on and offline through Divessi.com or the MySSI App.
Anyone from any agency, or even non divers, can register for an SSI account at DiveSSI.com or by downloading the MySSI App. Once you have registered you will receive, free of charge, the academic programs for Try Scuba, Try Freediving, the complete snorkelling academic program, all academics for the Scuba Diver Course, and the Blue Oceans program that can all be completed on or offline.
You will also have access, free of charge, to other features like the digital logbook that links to the My DiveGuide tool where you can research new dive sites and destinations worldwide with information contributed by divers using the logbook feature of MySSI.
Most SSI training programs now have digital material available. If you want to continue your training they have over 60 programs available in over 40 languages that can be accessed by contacting your SSI Dive Centre. The digital learning can be completed at home and then practical sessions can be completed with any SSI Dive Centre when you are ready. For some programs, Centres may be able to offer webinar and Skype based instructor led sessions. For those of you that like to hold paper, when registering for the Digital product you also receive free of charge access to the PDF student materials that you can print if you wish.
For those divers stuck at home at the moment, you might want to look at the following courses for yourselves. your families and buddies:
- Marine Ecology
- Fish Identification
- Coral Identification
- Sea Turtle Ecology
- Shark Ecology
- Manta & Ray Ecology
- Enriched Air Nitrox
