Join Brighton Dolphin Project for a special day at the Discovery Centre in Brighton.

Based in Brighton, the World Cetacean Alliance (WCA) is the world’s largest marine conservation partnership. WCA champions the protection of marine habitats through community engagement, by focusing on whales and dolphins (cetaceans).

The Brighton Dolphin Project (BDP) is WCA’s local initiative that was set up to celebrate the cultural heritage that Brighton has with Dolphins, whilst trying to inspire and excite the local community about conservation issues along the Sussex coast, encouraging human behaviour change that will lead to increasingly sustainable practices.

Celebrate everything about Sharks & Rays. The team will be showcasing pioneering conservation activities to protect these animals at this all day event.

Taking place on Saturday 29th June from 11am to 5pm, JAWsome Sharks & Radical Rays will include a whole host of family fun events which includes a shark egg case hunt, arts & crafts, games, and showcasing of equipment that is used to learn more about Sharks.

Throughout the day, visitors will be joined by Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme, who will be on hand for you to learn more about whale shark research in the Maldives, and how you can get hands on experience in Shark conservation.

Frogfish Photography will also be joining in the shark-filled fun and will be giving a talk about sharks and rays from 4-5pm. You will be able to see their images of these wonderful animals from around the world, including from UK waters.

As visitors you can look forward to a Sharky trail, jaw dropping arts and crafts, and a daily fintastic Shark show.

Nick and Caroline Robertson-Brown

Nick and Caroline (Frogfish Photography) are a married couple of conservation driven underwater photo-journalists and authors. Both have honours degrees from Manchester University, in Environmental Biology and Biology respectively, with Nick being a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, a former high school science teacher with a DipEd in Teaching Studies. Caroline has an MSc in Animal Behaviour specializing in Caribbean Ecology. They are multiple award-winning photographers and along with 4 published books, feature regularly in the diving, wildlife and international press They are the Underwater Photography and Deputy Editors at Scubaverse and Dive Travel Adventures. Winners of the Caribbean Tourism Organization Photo-journalist of the Year for a feature on Shark Diving in The Bahamas, and they have been placed in every year they have entered. Nick and Caroline regularly use their free time to visit schools, both in the UK and on their travels, to discuss the important issues of marine conservation, sharks and plastic pollution. They are ambassadors for Sharks4Kids and founders of SeaStraw. They are Dive Ambassadors for The Islands of The Bahamas and are supported by Mares, Paralenz, Nauticam and Olympus.
