NEW at Boot – Underwater Photography

Published

on

The Boot 2019 show in Germany had a huge range of equipment for underwater photographers and videographers to lust after, with many manufacturers on hand to talk through their new products as well as their existing ranges. This area of the show is always busy, but during my short visit I got to speak to a few of them to see what they had on offer…

Nauticam

The Nauticam team always put on a good show and their stand this year was no exception. They had new housings and accessories on view including the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and Fuji X-T3 Housings on display.

Nauticam also had a prototype rectilinear “bugeye” lens on display and whilst this lens is still in development it is great to see that Nauticam are willing to give customers a sneak preview of what they are working on.

Subal

Subal had a large stand with loads of their housings on display and the team were there to talk customers through their range. The latest housings included ones for the Nikon Z Series, Nikon 7500, Canon R and the Sony Alpha 7 III.

iBubble

The iBubble team are now shipping their autonomous diving drone out to customers. This camera makes you the star – as it can follow you on the dive, filming you from different angles.

Keldan

Keldan had their beautiful lights on display at Boot. The light output from these is impressive as I found out when a customer turned one on whilst I was looking at it – it took me a while to recover my sight!

Anchor Dive Lights

It is always a pleasure to speak with the team from Anchor Dive Lights. They had their new “all singing, all dancing” series 189 light on display. What does the “189” refer to? Apparently it is the episode number in the Simpsons – “All singing, all dancing”! This light really does have some impressive features (including a secret function I was not allowed to know about!) What I did see is a dive light that offers both hard and soft white wide beams, a spot light, red and UV lights, all that can be adjusted for power and with the option to switch off when your strobes fire.

Paralenz

Paralenz popularity has been a bit of a phenomenon in the past 12 months and once again the team were at Boot to show off their dive action camera. This show, they introduced a new lens cap to protect the front lens. This will be a popular new addition to the accessory range, allowing people to stop buying a particular deodorant brand just to use the cap on their Paralenz!
