blue o two announces a brand new Destination of the Month

Published

on

2017 is flying by! It’s August already and UK-based dive tour operator blue o two are bringing divers another fantastic Destination of the Month showcase. This time, attention turns to the pearls of the Indian Ocean, the magical Maldives.

blue o two first ventured to the Maldives several years ago, and now operate two beautiful liveaboards in the region. The Maldives is a stunning group of atolls that plays host to what can only be described as an underwater paradise. With tropical conditions all year round, scuba divers have the chance to enjoy an abundance of marine life, from manta rays and whale sharks, through to barracuda, tuna, and more than 700 different species of tropical fish dotted throughout the coral reefs.

M/Y blue Voyager, fresh from her mid-year dry dock, welcomes 26 divers on board and is the epitome of a spacious diving liveaboard. Complete with a custom-built 19m diving support vessel, blue Shadow, this outstanding liveaboard remains as a peaceful sanctuary in between diving, and each diver has an ample space in their own allocated station aboard the dhoni. With an ocean deck, numerous relaxation areas, and a Jacuzzi on board, M/Y blue Voyager is a fantastic option for anyone looking to venture to the Maldives.

M/V Sea Spirit offers a different, but equally enjoyable Maldivian diving experience. She provides a more intimate setting, with a maximum of 12 divers on board. Offering a superb selection of itineraries, trips aboard M/V Sea Spirit are hosted by Lisa and Dave Allison, who have over 20 years of experience of diving in the region; you simply couldn’t be in more capable hands. The vessel boasts a beautiful sun deck, along with alfresco dining; the food is prepared by a fantastic Sri Lankan chef and guests will be blown away by his culinary delights.

Throughout August, blue o two will be bringing their divers a whole host of inspirational content, top tips, interesting facts and lots more across their social media channels, so make sure to check them out if you are considering the Maldives as your next scuba diving destination.

Plus, to top it all off, to celebrate the Maldives as Destination of the Month for August, blue o two have announced a fantastic special offer:

For all bookings taken during August 2017 on board either M/Y blue Voyager or M/V Sea Spirit for all remaining 2017 departures, guests will receive free nitrox for the duration of their liveaboard holiday, plus a free bottle of wine per person on arrival. Santa Divers take the Plunge for Charity

Ho Ho Ho! Vobster Quay’s recording-breaking charity Santa diving event returns on Sunday 15th December 2024 for another round of festive fundraising frivolities. Run in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Help For Heroes, this ever-popular annual fundraising event aims to raise sack-loads of cash for these two very deserving charities.

Divers of all levels are invited to grab their Santa outfits – and as much festive cheer as they can muster – and head down to Vobster Quay near Mells, Somerset for a mass sponsored Santa dive in aid of charity. In previous years, the event has attracted divers from the far corners of the UK to join in the festive merriment for a final festive dive before the Christmas and New Year break. Back in 2015, the event smashed the world record for the most Santa divers with 188 divers taking to the waters donning their festive finery – a record that remains unbeaten to this day!

Vobster Santas isn’t just about setting records – it’s also about raising some serious cash for charity. Vobster Quay encourages all divers to get into the spirit of the season to raise much-needed funds for two very deserving charities – the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Help For Heroes.

Through individual sponsorship and online donations, divers can invite their friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them to plunge into the balmy waters of Vobster Quay dressed in full festive finery. Since the very first Santa dive in 2007, the event has raised over £52,000 for charity. “It’s been over 17 years since the very first charity Santa dive took place at Vobster Quay and every year the event just keeps getting bigger and better” enthused Vobster Quay owner, Amy Stanton.

“Vobster Santas is a great way for divers to say a massive thank you to the both the RNLI and Help For Heroes – two very deserving charities close to our hearts. We’re immensely proud of all that Vobster Santas has achieved and hope that even more divers will join this year’s event on Sunday 15th December. I’m confident that we can make Vobster Santas 2024 the biggest yet!”.

Divers wishing to participate can get involved by simply registering their attendance at
