Belgian Jetairfly resume flights to Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh is one step closer to recovery as Belgian Jetairfly resumes flights, becoming the latest airline to resume flights in time for the usually busy winter season.

Sharm el Sheikh takes another step on the road to recovery as Belgian airline Jetairfly resumed flights to the Red Sea resort city as of yesterday (Sunday 30th October).

After suspending flights for one year, Belgian Jetairfly announced they will operate two flights per week (Sundays and Tuesdays) to and from Sharm el Sheikh for the upcoming winter season. The resumption of flights is a signal that the Belgian government believes Egypt has taken the necessary steps to improve security in its airports.

As part of the German-based TUI Group, the Belgian airliner is the latest among a string of European airlines to announce a resumption of flights. The resumptions of flights couldn’t have come at a better time, as Sharm el Sheikh has been on the verge of collapsing in the aftermath of the October 2015 Russian plane crash in Sinai, and with the winter season being the most popular time to travel, the Red Sea resort may finally have an opportunity to recover.
