Kiwi to Attempt 102m Freedive Tomorrow

freedive

Kiwi freediver William Trubridge will attempt an unassisted freedive to 102 metres into a 200 metre-deep cavern in the Bahamas tomorrow morning.

“I’m not fearful for my life because I trust the safety divers, but there is always that anxiety,” said Trubridge.

“Am I going to make it? Am I going to black out? My main fear is not being successful in my attempt.”

Trubridge says he’s trying to remain calm and distance himself from the hype surrounding his heroic feat.

“It’s a sport where you don’t want to feel all that pressure – there’s already enough pressure at 100 metres,” he said.

You can watch William Trubridge’s free dive on Television New Zealand’s Breakfast Show tomorrow morning at 7.50am (local time) and on www.onenews.co.nz.
