Scotland: A West Coast Tour by Mark Kirkland – September NUPG Meeting (Watch Video)
The August 2021 NUPG meeting saw Mark Kirkland take to the virtual stage. Mark not only showed the group his stunning images from around his native Scotland, but also shared some insight into how he got the shots. Mark recently won the British Underwater Photographer of the Year award with a simply stunning shot of a frog in a Glasgow pond at night. You can hear all about how he took this shot in the video of his talk.
The monthly NUPG competition theme in September was “Divers Down” and there were some excellent images of divers from the UK and all around the world. The winner was Justin Beevor with this shot of the Kittiwake in the Cayman Islands

The Runner-Up was Nick Robertson-Brown with this image of a dive guide blowing air rings at the end of a dive in The Bahamas

And in Third place another image of the Kittiwake wreck by Justin Beevor.

Next month the NUPG is going to trial going back to meetings in person – at their old location, but new restaurant – Wanago in West Didsbury. Tony Gilbert, a longstanding NUPG member, will be giving a talk on his underwater photography titled “Muddy Bottoms”
