New merger: CT Scuba Academy and Future Frogmen
Future Frogmen and the Connecticut Scuba Academy have announced a new merger.
Future Frogmen is an initiative to improve our oceans’ health by deepening the connection between people and nature. By growing an inclusive community of like-minded stewards, they improve public awareness and appreciation of the ocean and close the gap between human understanding and destructive behaviour.
Founder Richard Hyman’s inspiration to protect the ocean was nurtured by his seafaring grandfather and reinforced by Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, for whom he served aboard the famed ship Calypso. After building Future Frogmen, Richard has decided to donate the organization to the Connecticut Scuba Academy.
Future Frogmen, along with their Blue Earth Podcasts and Blog which are also available on Scubaverse, will continue as a Connecticut Scuba Academy subsidiary. The Academy is excited to have Richard join the Advisory Board where he will continue his lifelong dedication to our environment, sea life, and marine education. The addition of Future Frogmen complements the Academy’s mission of protecting and preserving our aquatic environment through student engagement and research to address environmental issues as citizen scientists. Future Frogmen’s primary mission will remain the same; however, the organization’s future is to be more in line with the Academy as an educational organization.
The Academy and Future Frogmen will start developing programs to be used by schools, nonprofits, and educational facilities to engage their students through participation in citizen science. Under guidance, they hope to develop a network of participating students that will eventually spread internationally and foster collaboration on a global scale.
