GoPro Hero 4 – Rumoured New Features

The GoPro is a popular choice for people who are looking for a robust camera that is able to capture extreme actions with ease.

With news of GoPro 4 to be launched in October 2014, there’s a huge buzz and speculation among users.

There’s a lot of speculation in regards to what functions the GoPro 4 will feature. Here’s what we’ve heard about the new GoPro so far:

The Improvement in Specifications

If you compare GoPro 4 with Gopro3, you will find significant improvements. The megapixel sensor will improve from 12 MP to 13 MP. Not only this, GoPro 4 will allow you to capture 4k video at 30 fps as compared to 15 fps in GoPro 3 models. Even when you record videos with 1080p resolution, you can do it at 120 fps as compared to 60 fps offered by GoPro 3. GoPro 4 will allow you to capture videos at 240 fps for the resolution of 720p. This is an indicator of the type of improvement this new model will bring to the table.

Owing to these high quality resolutions, taking slow motion shots – even when you are underwater – is going to be much more efficient and clear.

Electronic Image Stabilization

So far, there has been a lot of hue and cry over the absence of image stabilization feature. This is one of the core features and a necessary component in cameras because it helps in reducing the noise present in the captured shots. The GoPro 4 is reportedly going to have the electronic image stabilization feature, which will reduce the shakiness and noise in photos.

There are also reports that the camera is going to have an option for wireless connection, which will make sharing your pictures instantly on social media sites much easier.

A Better Processor

The processor is going to see some significant improvements. The camera will be powered by SoC Ambarella A9 chip and will run on 1 GH and a cortex TM A9 processor. The improved processor will allowyou to run more apps concurrently. The camera is likely to come with an extra set of apps. It will also offer the provision of HDR WDR for the sake of tone mapping.

There is still some time before the camera launches officially and all that is known about it is owed to the various leaks and rumours. There is no official word yet regarding the exact specifications that the device will offer. However, the above listed specifications are expected to be a part of the new model.

There are rumours that the camera will feature double lens – however, there is no official confirmation on that. Even the price is still rumoured at this time. One thing’s for sure though – when the GoPro 4 finally launches, it’s sure to excite a lot of people (and sell by the bucket loads).
