Jamaica Reef Rescue

The YouTube film ‘Jamaica Reef Rescue’ tells the story of how local fisherman, scientists and conservationists work together to safeguard the future of a reef, and a sustainable fishery. The film was made by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to conserving and restoring ocean ecosystems. The Foundation surveys coral-reefs using SCUBA and a state-of-the-art research ship which allows their science team to reach remote and often unstudied locations. Scientific results from their work are shared freely with local scientific and regulatory organizations and the public. The results are used by countries for developing sound management strategies for coral reefs and marine conservation. This film features their science and philosophy in action, and it just won Best Environmental and Conservation film at Worldfest 2013.
