Wales Best of the West – Episode 3 – Martin’s Haven

Wales Best of the West (Cymru Gorau’r Gorllewin) is a bilingual online series that takes viewers on a journey from North to South Wales to discover four favourite shore dives.

In this episode, we explore Martin’s Haven.

Heading down to Pembrokeshire, Martin’s Haven was the next to explore. This is a dive site that fellow team member Lloyd (Kraken Production) knows like the back of his hand and he reveals some of its many secrets. The site is situated within the Skomer Marine Nature Reserve and one thing you notice soon into the dive is what the protection means to the site. There’s an abundance of different species, but one in particular that is found through the sand which is King Scallop (Pecten maximus) as it is an offence to take any from the reserve. The dive is the deepest shore dive along the coast (heading down to 30meters) but is also a site where you can find the pink seafan (Eunicella verrucosa) at its Northern most limit.
