First flights resume to Red Sea resorts
The first flights bringing tourists to the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic landed on the 1st July.
These flights brought visitors looking for sun, sea and great diving from Switzerland, Ukraine and Belarus. It brings hope to these resorts that divers from the UK may be able to follow soon.
The Red Sea is one of the top destinations for European tourists seeking sun and sea, as well as those looking for snorkelling and diving. In 2019, Egypt was voted by the public for the 4th consecutive year as the preferred diving destination for the UK public during the Birmingham Dive Show in October 2019.
These flights signal the start of a resumption of tourism in the Egyptian resorts, with many tour operators eagerly awaiting the declaration of the UK government to ease the conditions for travel. Let’s hope it happens soon!
