Winners – Underwater Videography Contests

April 2016 Video Contest Winner And Review

WINNER CHOSEN AND REVIEW BY SCUBAVERSE.COM’S UNDERWATER VIDEOGRAPHY EDITOR JEFF GOODMAN

Winner: Mike Deeter

Winning Video:

Only two videos this month so not really any problem picking a winner. The Sharks of Maya Bay by Mike Deeter. A nice concept for a video series but I would suggest thinking a bit more on the  music aspect. Music should be there to enhance and help create a mood, and while this heavy soundtrack worked for the sharks it was too much for the spear fishing film.

Certainly very dramatic music. This was probably a very exciting dive with plenty of sharks and as is so often the case, the sharks wouldn’t come any closer. Nevertheless, well done for capturing what you did on video. Save our sharks is a very good message to end on.

Spearfishermen of the Yucatan – Mike Deeter

Pacey opening with good use of GoPro motion options on the surface sequences. Music perhaps a little to over dramatic this time.

So congratulations, Mike. I do hope more of you enter in May!
