Man killed in Red Sea shark attack
A German man has been killed in a shark attack off Egypt’s Red Sea coast.
The 52 year old was swimming off the coastal city of Al-Quseir on Sunday when the shark bit his leg off at the knee.
The species of shark is unknown, but in 2010 an oceanic white tip was believed to have been behind a spate of attacks which saw part of Sharm el-Sheikh’s beachfront closed for a week.
The area that saw Sunday’s attack witnessed another in 2009 that killed a Frenchwoman.
The German embassy in Cairo said it had been informed of the latest death but could not comment further.
