I have visited SBSR about 10 times. The resort is within the coral triangle, home to the most diverse undersea environment in the world. (For example, the Caribbean has about 60 species of coral, the coral triangle has ~600 species.) There is something there for every diver, from macro critters like nudibranchs and shrimps all the way up to Whale sharks. As great as the diving is, it’s not just the diving that makes SBSR special. It’s the people. The staff are super qualified, warm, and welcoming. All of the guides are top notch. The lead dive instructor Pedro, takes his job seriously, while at the same time, is always fun and easy going. If you’re into macro, Dave is the best small critter guide I have ever met. The resort operations staff are also super cool and competent. Reservations manager Annalyn handles accommodation and travel arrangements with aplomb and dedication. She is even up at 3 am in the morning to personally make sure guests make their van ride to the airport! The resort restaurant is the best in the area. Co-owner Darlene manages a diverse and changing menu that includes both local and international fare.
