Video Contest – March 2022

Description: Strictly speaking this isn't a diving video, but please indulge me. Many shots did, however, require filming in a drysuit in cold water with an underwater camera. I visited several inland dive sites during lockdown and noticed a huge increase in the numbers of open water swimmers. Open water swimming was one of the few activities allowed during lockdown and one dive centre told me it kept their business going. I was intrigued by what the swimmers did and the health benefits they said they got from it. I decided to follow a group of swimmers for several months over winter to find out more. Here is the end result. Most of the shots were taken on Panasonic GH5 and G7 cameras. The inwater shots were taken on a GoPro Hero 7 using BlackStar lights. Some of the "aerial" shots were taken on a GoPro Hero 5 attached to a boom which I held as high as I could. It's been one of my most ambitious projects during a time when I haven't been able to dive much. Hope you like it.
