Video Contest – July 2022

Description: Last week we were able to witness something really special at the dive site Critter Circus in Manado Bay - North Sulawesi in Indonesia. A huge group of Bigfin reef squids (Sepioteuthis lessoniana) was doing their mating dance. Males & females were interacting, dancing, laying eggs and the males were fertilizing the eggs. Such an amazing sight & experience. In my 15 years of scuba diving in North Sulawesi I have only witnessed this once before but on a much smaller scale. When I saw this the first time it were only a few squids together. This time it must have been more than 50 individuals. Just magic!
