Video Contest – August 2022

Description: Ghost pipefish come in many different colors & variations but only in 7 different recognized species. 4 species are showcased in this video: 1. The Robust ghost pipefish (Solenostomus cyanopterus) 2. The Ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) 3. The Rough snout ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paegnius) 4. The Halimeda ghost pipefish (Solenostomus halimeda). The other 3 species can also be found in North Sulawesi but unfortunately my footage of these 3 species didn't make it into the video due to quality reasons. The 4 species in this video can be found mostly on the many muck diving sites that are dotted around the whole of coastline of North Sulawesi. From Manado, to Bangka island and Cape Pulisan to the Lembeh Strait. Especially our front yard in Manado Bay is a great area to spot them all. Manado Bay muck dive sites like Critter Circus, Bethlehem, City Extra and Bulo are all excellent dive sites where most of the time you'll find one of these 4 species.
